Yellow Jackets take the win 2-1 vs Gatesville

Gatesville, TX – In the closing minutes of a tie match, a critical penalty was called against Gatesville. Yellow Jacket Alex Saldana would be called upon to deliver the penalty kick. His strike was successful, giving Stephenville the road victory, 2-1. The Jackets’ win takes them to 2-0 in district play.

The match was close throughout with Stephenville taking the early lead with just seconds left in the first half. It looked as if the teams would go into the intermission at nil-nil, but a long-range kick from Henry Vazquez would get past the Gatesville keeper to give the Jackets the lead at half, 1-0.

Stephenville’s next match is at home on Friday at Lem Brock Field versus Lampasas. The match will take place immediately following the Honeybees contest.
