Tennis Brings Home Medals from Arlington

Arlington, TX (Photo & recap credit Angela Haynes)— The Stephenville Varsity Tennis teams traveled to Arlington on Friday to compete at the Arlington Tennis Center.

Libby Post and Taylor Berry captured 1st place in the B Bracket Girls Doubles, winning a hard-fought match in a split-set tiebreaker, 10-7.

In the B Bracket Boys Doubles, Hyrum Watson and Omkar Kannan secured 3rd place, dominating their match with scores of 6-1 and 6-0.

Gabe Cortezz and Derick Hunter continued their impressive season, finishing 2nd in the A Bracket Boys Doubles. They battled through split sets but fell just short in a tight tiebreaker, 8-10.

Rose Cordes also had a strong showing, taking 3rd place in the A Bracket Girls Singles.

The A Bracket Mixed Doubles Championship was delayed due to time constraints and will now be played Monday at 4:15 p.m. at the Stephenville High School courts. Come out and cheer on the two Stephenville duos as Laura Haynes and Travis Williams take on Katy Heller and Rhett Donham in the finals.
