Stidham

Former Stephenville High School Yellow Jacket, Jarrett Stidham has had a big career since leaving the City of Champions. As a senior at SHS he completed 183 of 260 passes for 2,934 years, and a killer 35 touchdowns. Since his days in “The Ville”, he has gone on to play for Baylor University, and Auburn in the College division before moving on to the NFL.

In 2019 he was chosen by the New England Patriots in the 4th round of the NFL draft. Since then he has also been on the teams of Cleveland Browns and Las Vegas Raiders before signing with the Broncos in 2023.

Now as the Denver Broncos head into the offseason with Bo Nix solidified as their starting quarterback, but the situation for backup Jarrett Stidham is becoming clearer. Stidham, a free agent this offseason, is viewed as the likeliest candidate to return as Nix’s backup.

Stidham played sparingly in 2024, appearing in three games for mop-up duty with 14 total snaps. Despite limited action, he’s expressed a strong affinity for Denver, praising the quarterback room with Nix and QB coach Davis Webb. Having spent two seasons with the Broncos on a $5 million contract, Stidham’s familiarity with Sean Payton’s offense could make him a key asset moving forward.

Stidham previously started two games for Denver in 2023, stepping in for Russell Wilson. He went 1-1 in those starts and has a career completion rate of 59.4% with 1,422 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. Though not as battle-tested as some, his experience in Payton’s system and adaptability make him a valuable candidate for the QB2 role.

While teammate Zach Wilson is also set to hit free agency, Stidham’s comfort in Denver and proven compatibility with the team’s scheme position him as the preferred backup option for the Broncos in 2025.
