Stephenville Tops Glen Rose in Key District Matchup

Glen Rose TX – In a key district matchup, the Stephenville High School Honeybees and Yellow Jackets tennis team defeated the Glen Rose Tigers today 14-5. This win puts Stephenville’s record at 2-1 in district play. 
- Bees lead the way on the night with an impressive sweep in girls doubles and singles scoring 9 of the 14 points in the match. The doubles teams of Cordes/Cortez (6-0, 6-0), Post/Berry (6-3, 6-3) and Horton/Allen (6-1, 6-3) dominated girls doubles. In girls singles, wins were posted by Cordes, Cortez, Heller, Post, Horton and Berry.
- Jackets won a boys doubles match and in boys singles victories were seen by Hutchins (6-4, 6-4), Williams (6-2, 6-1), Sims (4-6, 6-1, 9-4) and Kannan (6-4, 2-6, 10-3).
- Stephenville also earned a point in mixed doubles with the team of Travis Williams/Katy Heller (6-2, 6-3).
With a bye next week, Stephenville will prepare for district rival Brownwood on October 2nd, in Brownwood.
