Stephenville Survives Series

Abilene, TX– Down to their final out in the 7th inning of the deciding game-three, the Jackets were trailing Estacado 2-1. A bizarre game because the Jackets had mustered 10 hits but only managed the one run. The same issue that had haunted the Jackets the night before in the 3-2 loss, was occurring again. The inability to get a hit with a runner in scoring position, held the Jackets to their lone run. Ethan Schindler finally broke through for Stephenville to score Hunter Langford with two outs in the 7th. It would tie the game and eventually lead to extra innings. The Jackets would finally have the big inning that had been eluding them so far in this series. Stephenville scored three in the 9th and won 5-2.
The extra-innings, game three victory advanced Stephenville to the Area Round.

For the Jackets to have a chance to come back in this game, the pitching staff had to hold Estacado in check. Starter Kole Davis went four innings allowing two runs and Roston Wienecke would pitch the final five innings in relief to get the win. He did not allow a run.

Five batters for the Jackets combined for all of the 14 hits. Trot Jordan was 4/4 with a run and an RBI. Cutter Pack was 2/5 with a run scored. Schindler was 3/5 with a run scored and two RBI. Gunner Stone was 3/5 with an RBI and Jace Brooks was 2/5. Brayden DeLaTorre had the additional RBI.

The Jackets improve to 26-10 on the season and will take on Springtown in the next round. The series will take place at Godley High School. Thursday and Friday games will be at 7pm with Game 3 (if necessary) on Saturday at Noon. All three games can be heard on any of the KSTV FM platforms and viewed on the NFHS Network.
