Stephenville, TX–In front of a packed Mike Copeland Field at Art Briles Stadium on Homecoming saw the Jackets easily dispatch of Abilene Wylie 52-13 on Friday night. Two weeks ago, it was the running game that dominated the opponent, last week the deep passing and this week, another option as the the quick passing attack raced points up the scoreboard. It’s becoming more and more difficult for opposing defenses to figure out what Stephenville is going to use on any given game.

The other side of the ball saw another dominating performance by the Wardog defense as these Jackets got in on the scoring as well. A “pick-six” by Briar Floyd, who stepped in front of an intended Bulldog recipient as he tipped the ball to himself and never broke stride, returned it 35 yards for the touchdown.

Statistically for Stephenville, the numbers were just as impressive as the final score. The Jackets had 452 yards of total offense (283 pass/169 rush) versus 275 total (219 pass/56 rush) for Wylie. Zyler McClendon had 78 yards rushing on 13 carries and three touchdowns with Carter VanZandt toting it for 62 yards on 12 carries and also a score.

Brighton Devivo hauled in five for 116, Caden Monk had five for 41 yards, Pecos Tally with two for 16 and Jhett Banuelos with an eight yard reception.
