Longhorns Rise from the Rubble

Gordon, TX – After a week marked by adversity, the Gordon High School baseball team is stepping up to the plate with determination and heart. When severe tornadoes tore through the community on Sunday, the devastation left in Gordon was both shocking and unforgettable. The team’s practice facility was destroyed, and most of their equipment was lost—but that didn’t stop the Longhorns.
Heading into the fourth round of the UIL State Playoffs, the Longhorns found strength in support. Happily Stephenville High School welcomed the team to their turf, the team was able to practice Thursday night, keeping their playoff dreams alive. The Texas Rangers Foundation also stepped up in a big way, donating hundreds of baseballs, pitching machines, and all the bats and gloves the players needed to compete.
Through tragedy, the Gordon Longhorns have shown the true meaning of grit, unity, and community spirit. Saturday night, the Longhorns will take the field against Gordon-Whitt, playing not just for a spot in the next round, but for a town that’s standing strong behind them. They’re swinging for more than just a win—they’re swinging for all of Gordon.
