Jackets Unable to Hold Lead and Lose to Mineral Wells

Stephenville, TX — The Stephenville Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early 3-0 lead over the Mineral Wells Rams on Friday night at home but couldn’t hang on for the win. The Rams rallied with four unanswered runs, eventually edging out the Jackets 4-3.
Despite out-hitting Mineral Wells 5-2, Stephenville struggled with control in the fifth inning. Walks and hit batters allowed the Rams to score three runs and tie the game.
In the top of the seventh, Mineral Wells scratched across the go-ahead run. Stephenville managed to get a runner on base with one out in the bottom of the inning, but a strikeout followed by a fielder’s choice ended the comeback attempt.
With the loss, Stephenville drops to 1-3 in district play, while Mineral Wells improves to 4-0. The Yellow Jackets will look to bounce back at home on Tuesday against Glen Rose.
