The Jackets would suffer another heartbreaking loss in district, falling on the road to Glen Rose, 5-4. Stephenville would give up two runs in the first inning, forcing a pitching change. Pitcher Gabe Elms would come in and settle things down and it would stay that way until the fourth. With one out Gunner Stone would single and then with two outs Eve Campos would single. This would move Stone to second. Jayden Ferguson singled up the middle to give Stephenville their first run and pull within one, 2-1.
Two Stephenville errors would lead to another Glen Rose run in the fifth to make it 3-1. However, it finally appeared that momentum was on the side of the Jackets as they scored two in the sixth to tie the game. Tanner Smith walked to started the inning and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Two outs later, Campos would hit a pop fly that was misplayed and Smith would score. Campos from second would try to steal third in the next at bat and an errant throw to third would allow him to score the tying run, 3-3. The Jackets would make the final out of the inning but the Glen Rose starter, had reached his pitch count limit and the Tiger bullpen would have to finish out the game.
The momentum appeared to continue in the bottom of the sixth when Glen Rose had two outs and no one on base. However, a walk and then a single and then a double would score two more to take back the lead back for the Tigers, 5-3.
But just like the other losses in district, the Jackets would make it interesting in their final at bat. After one out, Cooper Heller would be hit by a pitch and advance to second on a passed ball. A strikeout would then bring up Cutter Pack who would get the first extra base hit of the game for Stephenville. The Pack double would score Heller and again the Jackets were down one. With the tying run at second, a final Jacket strikeout would seal the loss, 5-4.
Stephenville is now 2-4 in district and the four losses are by a combined five runs. The Jackets have two next week with Graham before finishing the regular season with Brock in the following week.
