Brownwood, TX– A rough bottom half of the first would prove too much for Stephenville to overcome in a 4-2 loss. In the half inning, the Jackets would give up four runs with all of them unearned on two errors and two walks. The Jackets had taken an early lead of 1-0 in the top of the first inning but it would quickly be erased.

Stephenville would also not do themselves any favors by stranding nine runners in the game. While the Jackets would only have five hits, they added seven walks to constantly have traffic on the bases. But the clutch hit would never come once the deficit was established early.

The Jackets did make it interesting in the seventh, scoring their second run and having the bases loaded with the tying run in scoring position. But three runners would be stranded and Stephenville took the loss.

The Jackets and the Lions are now 1-1 in district with Mineral Wells being the opponent next week. Stephenville will travel to the Rams on Tuesday evening with a 7pm first pitch.
