Marble Falls, TX– Stephenville opened up the scoring quickly Friday night as on the first procession of the contest with the Jackets on defense, Jackson Richmond tipped a Mustang pass to himself and raced to the end zone for the “pick-six.” It would be a precursor to a big night in the district opener for Stephenville as they would beat Marble Falls 65-7.
The other significant news on the evening came on the career side of head football coach and athletic director, Sterling Doty. With the win, Doty got his 100th career victory, spanning his time at Magnolia and Stephenville High.

Stephenville would continue to execute a balanced attack on offense with 220 through the air and 214 on the ground. QB Trot Jordan would complete 11/18 for 161 yards and four touchdowns. Grayson Copeland would QB the second half and went 5/8 for 59 yards and a touchdown. Zyler McClendon ran for 87 yards on seven carries and a score with Carter VanZandt rushing for 86 yards and two TDs. Freshman Caden Monk lead the Jacket receiving corps with seven catches, 79 yards and two touchdowns.

The Jacket Wardog Defense would hold Marble Falls to 13 total yards in the first half. The Mustangs finished the evening with a total of 92 yards on the ground and 40 through the air. Similar to the previous win for Stephenville versus Ruston, the opponent got their only touchdown inside the final two minutes of the game.

Stephenville moves to 7-0 on the season and 1-0 in District 4-4A play. Next up, the Jackets host Lampasas at Mike Copeland Field at Art Briles Stadium. Kick is scheduled for 7:30pm
