Jackets Lose Low Scoring Pitcher’s Duel in Mineral Wells

Mineral Wells, TX– (Photo by Chelsea Hummel) Stephenville starter Eve Campos would throw a complete game, one-hitter. However, it wouldn’t be enough as the Jackets would fall to Mineral Wells 2-1. Ram starter Holden Hering would strikeout 14 Jackets and have their one hit of the game. Hering, the Texas Tech commit and two-time high school All American would hit a run scoring double off the wall in the bottom of the sixth to score the first run of the contest. He would later score on a sac fly after stealing third to make it 2-0.
Just like the Brownwood loss last Friday, Stephenville would make it interesting in the seventh. After a lead off single by Mason Weyers and then a Jacket strikeout, Campos would get the RBI of Weyers who had stole second on the previous batter. But Stephenville would strikeout with the tying run on base and fall to the Rams. Cutter Pack and Tanner Smith would have the other two hits for Stephenville.
The Jackets go to 1-2 in district and will try to tie the series when they play Friday in Stephenville. First pitch is scheduled for 7pm. Mineral Wells leads the district as the only undefeated team at 3-0.
