The Stephenville Yellow Jackets saw their impressive run at the Texas State 7-on-7 Championships come to a close Friday afternoon, falling to Van Alstyne 27-24 in a back-and-forth battle that came down to the final possessions.

Stephenville struck first as Jordan connected with Tally for a touchdown on the opening drive. The extra point was unsuccessful, but the Jackets grabbed an early 6-0 lead.

The Yellow Jacket defense answered with a huge stop on Van Alstyne’s first possession. Brooks broke up a pass to force a turnover, giving the offense another opportunity.

Jordan wasted little time, finding Monk for his first touchdown of the game. A penalty negated the extra-point attempt, but Stephenville extended its advantage to 12-0.

Stephenville answered immediately as Jordan connected with Monk for the third time, reclaiming the lead at 24-21.

Van Alstyne 27
Stephenville Yellow Jackets 24

Despite the tough finish, the Yellow Jackets put together another outstanding showing at the State 7-on-7 Championships. Stephenville advanced out of pool play, defeated Port Isabel 32-18 to open Day 2, and battled Van Alstyne to the final whistle in one of the tournament’s most competitive matchups. The performance serves as another strong indication that the Jackets will once again be a team to watch heading into the 2026 football season.
