Jacket Anglers Compete at THSBA State Tournament

Three teams from the Stephenville High School Bass Club represented the Yellow Jackets at the THSBA State Tournament on Lake Texoma over the weekend, competing against 185 teams from 110 schools from across Texas.
The tournament proved to be a challenging and competitive event, with more than 700 fish caught by anglers on the opening day alone.
Leading the way for Stephenville was the team of Kooper Key and Pecos Tally. The duo turned in an impressive Day 1 performance, weighing in four fish for a total of 14.02 pounds to finish the day in 7th place among the state’s top anglers.
Fellow Yellow Jackets Sawyer King and Carter Burks also brought a fish to the scales on Saturday, recording a catch weighing 3.13 pounds and finishing the day in 121st place.
On Day 2, Key and Tally added two more fish to their total and wrapped up the tournament in 32nd place overall with a combined weight of 18.16 pounds. King and Burks finished the event in 152nd place.
As a team, Stephenville placed 33rd overall at the THSBA State Tournament with a total weight of 21.29 pounds.
The SHS Bass Club also recognized the support of the Stephenville Evening Lions Club, whose sponsorship helped make the anglers’ state tournament experience possible.
Competing against some of the best high school anglers in Texas, the Yellow Jackets represented Stephenville well on one of the state’s premier fishing stages.
