Honeybees Win Thriller in Overtime To Secure District Championship

Brownwood TX – Friday night’s district showdown between the Stephenville Honeybees and Brownwood lived up to the hype, turning into a defensive battle that kept fans on edge from start to finish. Both teams fought hard for control throughout regulation, but neither side could find the back of the net.  The tie sent the game into penalty kicks, Stephenville broke through in the shootout, bringing the final score to 0-0 (4-2).

Scoring goals for Stephenville in penalty kicks were Natalie Estrada, Jayden Johnson, Bellamy McEvoy and Aaliyah Thayer.  Goalkeeper, Peighton Bishop made two phenomenal saves during the contest to help secure the victory.

With district play now wrapped up, the Honeybees will shift their focus to the postseason. Stephenville will return to the pitch March 17 for a friendly matchup against Lorena, serving as a tune-up game before the start of the playoffs.

In boys soccer action, Stephenville fell to Brownwood in penalty kicks.
