Honeybees Fall in Round 1 of Tourney

Saginaw, TX – The Stephenville Honeybees opened play at the 68th Annual Championship Basketball Tournament at Saginaw High School with a hard-fought battle that came down to the final minutes, falling just short to Muenster, 32–31.

The game was tight from start to finish, with Muenster edging Stephenville in a low-scoring first quarter before the Honeybees responded in the second. Both teams traded runs in the second half, but Muenster was able to hold on late to secure the one-point win.

Stephenville was led offensively by Iza Vandalsem with 8 points, followed by Taylor Berry with 7 and Brinley Hall with 5. Brooklyn Hardin added 4 points, Audrey McClendon chipped in 3, while Laynee Hodges and Olivia Cortez each finished with 2.

With the loss, the Honeybees move into the Consolation Bracket and will face Sunnyvale at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow. Depending on the outcome, Stephenville will play again at either 4:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. Stay tuned to Ville Sports for continued tournament coverage and game recaps.
