Former Honeybee Sprinter to Compete at NCAA Championships

Most Stephenville track fans know that former Honeybee Tori Cameron is fast. While in high school they witnessed it at the state meets in Austin. Now fans of hers get to find out how fast at the highest national level in college track. Competing for Tarleton State, Cameron impressed at the West Regional NCAA Meet last week against some of the top sprinters in the nation by finishing with the second fastest time in the 100 meters. She only missed the top spot by one one-hundredth of a second, finishing in a time of 11.01. She will now compete at the NCAA Division 1 Track & Field Championships, June 11-14th in Eugene, Oregon.

Not only will she be running in the 100m, but also as the anchor leg of the Tarleton Sprint Relay.

As far as the 100 meters, there will be three prelim heats. Cameron’s race will take place at 7:25pm CT on Thursday evening. Eight finalist will then compete on Saturday. These prelims will be aired on ESPN.

Based upon the times at the East and West Regionals, Cameron sits tied for the fifth fastest in the nation. However, she only finished three one-hundredths of a second behind the fastest time.

The Tarleton Sprint Relay will also run their prelim on Thursday at 4:05pm CT. This can be seen on ESPN as well.
