District Tennis Match in Brownwood
Brownwood, TX – The Stephenville High School varsity tennis teams kicked off the District Tennis Meet in Brownwood on Wednesday with an impressive showing from both the Jackets and the Honeybees.
In mixed doubles, two Stephenville teams advanced to the finals, which will take place Thursday. Laura Haynes and Travis Williams will face off against Katy Heller and Rhett Donham for the district championship.
In boys’ doubles, Gabe Cortez and Derick Hunter also punched their ticket to the finals and will battle for first place.
Ryder Sims will be playing boys’ singles playing for a 3rd or 4th place finish.
On the girls’ side, Rose Cordes will compete in the girls singles final, while Olivia Cordes is still in the hunt, competing for 3rd or 4th place. She also has an outside chance at a playback scenario that could give her another shot at a regional bid.
Today’s competition begins at 9:30 a.m. in Brownwood, with the top two finishers in each division advancing to the Regional Meet, scheduled for May 9–10 at Texas Tech in Lubbock.
