Day 1 Down, Eyes on Day 2: Two Headed to State, Athletes & Events on Day 2

Lubbock, TX – Day one of the Region I Track and Field Meet is in the books, and the Stephenville Yellow Jackets and Honeybees were in action. The top two finishers in each event earn a spot at the UIL Class 4A State Championships in Austin, scheduled for May 1–3.
Among Friday’s scored finals, Stephenville junior Kolton Dearth secured his trip to State by claiming 1st place in the Shot Put. Senior Tristian Gentry is also headed to Austin after earning 2nd place in the Triple Jump.

Girls High Jump
• 5th – Senior Aubrey Vanden Berge, 5’2″ jump – 2 points
Boys Shot Put
• 1st – Junior Kolton Dearth, 55′ 3.75″ throw – 10 points
Boys Pole Vault
• 4th – Junior Kylar Mills, 14′ 0″ vault – 4 points
Boys Triple Jump
• 2nd – Senior Tristian Gentry, 44′ 7″ jump – 8 points
Finals for the remaining events will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday at Texas Tech University.
