Bees Battle Past Brownwood in Extra Innings

Brownwood TX – In Tuesday night’s extra inning thriller, Stephenville outlasted Brownwood to secure the 12-11 victory.  Despite being trailing 8-4, in the fourth inning, Stephenville never gave up, battling their way back into the game.

After being down 1-0, in the second Mattie-Lynn Dunnam hit a huge inside the park homerun with two on base to give Stephenville the lead 3-1.  Brownwood responded with three runs of their own, going ahead by one run.  Kenzi Black answered in the top of the fourth with a triple to tie the game, however the Lady Lions regained the lead once again.

Down 5-9, Stephenville erupted with five runs on three hits to take the lead, 10-9.  Aislyn Willis, came in clutch for Stephenville, ripping a pinch-hit triple to right center field scoring three runs in the top of the seventh.  Brownwood would answer in the bottom half of the inning, to even the score, 10-10.

With the game tied in the eighth, Stephenville catcher Fallan Everett doubled plating two, giving the Bees the lead 12-10.  Despite Brownwood scoring one the inning, Stephenville’s defense held on in the bottom of the eight to seal the win.

The Honeybees are now 2-1, in district play.  Stephenville will host Mineral Wells, Friday, March 27, first pitch at 6:30.
