Stephenville Drops Final District Game to Glen Rose; Playoff Details Set

Glen Rose, TX – (Photos by Tanisha Everett, Story by Pam Smith) Both teams were even with seven hits and three errors, but Glen Rose came out on top 4-3.  Marin Hill started in the circle for the Honeybees, although four runs were scored, none of them were earned. Offensively, Hill led the team in hits going 2 for 3 on the night. Other Bees collecting one hit each were Meg McGregor, Presley Gaitan, Jayci Smith, Macy Parker and Kodi Thompson with Gaitan driving in one run. Molly Hatton also had one RBI on a sacrifice fly that scored Parker.

Defensively, Parker caught a hard-line drive for the first out of the game. Stephenville also turned two double plays.  First, was an unassisted double play by first baseman Smith who caught the line drive and stepped on first to get the runner, ending the inning. For the second double play, second baseman Hatton, dove for the ball but it came out when her glove hit the ground. Shortstop, Thompson, then fielded the ball, stepped on second and fired it across to Smith for the exciting double play.

The Honeybees finish district play with a 4-6 record going into the playoffs next week. The Bi District round will take place at Abilene Wylie versus Big Spring. Game one will be Thursday evening at 6:30pm. Game two will be on Friday at 5:30pm with the “if necessary” game immediately following.
