Five Stephenville Athletes Qualify for the State Track Meet

Lubbock TX – Stephenville Track and Field compete in Lubbock over the weekend with one Honeybee and four Yellow Jackets to the state meet in a couple of weeks.

Senior, Brinley Hall brought home the gold medal in Girls Shotput with a throw of 40-1.50 feet for the Honeybees.  Hall outthrew the other competitors by almost nine inches.

The Yellow Jackets are sending four to state, Kolton Dearth, Caleb Garland, Jesse Barnes and Kyler Mills.  Senior, Kolton Dearth earned the gold medal with a throw of 59-8 feet. Caleb Garland earned the bronze and picked up the wildcard spot throwing 55-3 feet.

Senior pole vaulter Kylar Mills jumped 15-0 feet to finish in the silver medal position and Jesse Barnes secured the wildcard and finished with the bronze medal in Boys High Jump.

In addition to these athletes punching their tickets to state, several other athletes set new school records.  For the Bees, Halle Rust broke her own record in the 1600 meter run, 5:14, and the 3200 meter run, 11:28.38 while Bella Wade set the new record in the 400 mater dash with at time of 57.95.  The 4×200 meter relay team consisting of Simon Elliston, Willis Jackson, Jhett Banuelos and Christjan Spellmeier broke the school record for the Jackets with a time of 1:27.84.

These athletes will compete in the State Track Meet on Thursday, May 14.
