Honeybees Fall in Bi-District Round to Big Spring

Clyde TX – The Stephenville Honeybees faced off with a tough Big Spring Lady Steers team on Thursday in Clyde.  Despite a near comeback in game two, Stephenville came up  short 12-4 in game and 13-11 in game two.

In game one,  Big Spring got on the board first and never looked back.  Stephenville out hit the Lady Steers 8 to 4.  Ava Williams, Mattie-Lynn Dunnam and Aislyn Willis each collected two hits in the game.  Macy Parker, Molly Hatton, Wills and Williams drove in one run apiece.  Marin Hill started in the circle for the Bees, she allowed three hits and seven runs (only two earned), walked eight and struck out six in four innings of work.  Ally Ellibee came in to relieve Hill, allowing 1 hit and 5 runs (0 earned).  Ellibee struck out three and walked one.

Game two proved to be very exciting as the Bees battled back to within two of the Lady Steers.  Stephenville scored five runs in the fourth and three in the seventh innings contributing to the near comeback.  They closed the gap scoring on a walk, a double, a single, a walk, a single, a single, a triple and a single.

Aislyn Willis was 3 for 5 on the night, driving in three runs on three hits for Stephenville.  The third baseman singled in the first and fourth innings then added a triple in the seventh.  Macy Parker and Marin Hill also had multiple hits for Stephenville and Ava Williams had five of the Honeybees six stolen bases.

The Bees close out their season with a record of 16-16-1.
