Abilene, TX– Stephenville’s War Dog defense created a three and out on Pecos’ first possession of the game inside their own 10 yard line giving the Jacket offense great field position. One play later, it was 7-0 Stephenville and it would prove to be a precursor of how the night would go. The Jackets won 56-7 for the Bi District Championship with a large group of sub-varsity kids playing a lot of the second half.

That first scoring play for Stephenville would be a 30 yard strike from Trot Jordan to Adan Jergins. Jergins would finish the evening with five catches for 80 yards and three touchdowns. Jordan would be 14/18 and 200 yards passing and five touchdowns. On the season, Jordan has thrown 35 touchdowns with one interception.

Defensively, Stephenville would hold Pecos to 123 yards rushing and 47 yards passing. The majority of those yards came in the fourth quarter against the Jacket sub-varsity players. Coach Sterling Doty would be quoted after the game of saying that the playing time in the playoffs for these sub-varsity kids is invaluable for their future in the years to come.

Stephenville would create another turnover in this game with Hudson Butchee tipping a pass away from an intended receiver that would be picked-off by Karsen Bernal for his first interception of the season. The Jackets would also be credited with three sacks against the Eagles.
