7 Stephenville Athletes Qualify for State Championships

Austin, TX — The Stephenville Yellow Jackets & Honeybees are gearing up for a thrilling showdown at the 2025 UIL Track & Field State Meet, set to take place May 1–3 at the Mike A. Meyers Track & Soccer Stadium in Austin. The Jackets are well-represented with seven athletes qualifying to compete at the highest level in Class 4A competition.
Leading the charge is senior Tristian Gentry, who qualified in three events—an impressive feat. Gentry will compete in the Triple Jump, Long Jump, and the 4×200 meter relay team. His explosive power and consistency on the runway have made him one of the most versatile field athletes in the state.
Joining Gentry in the 4x200m relay are teammates Simon Elliston, Jhett Banuoles, and C.J. Spellmeier. The quartet has turned heads all season with their speed and chemistry on the track, and now they’ll have a chance to bring home hardware on the state’s biggest stage.
In the field events, Kolton Dearth will represent the boys in the Shot Put after a dominant showing at the regional meet. On the girls’ side, Brinley Hall will also compete in Shot Put, continuing the tradition of excellence in Stephenville’s throwing program.
Rounding out the Honeybee roster is Marin Copeland, who blazed her way to state in the Girls 100m Dash. Known for her explosive start and smooth stride, Copeland will face off against some of the fastest sprinters in Texas.
Class 4A competition kicks off Thursday, May 1, alongside 3A events. The day begins at 9:00 a.m. with the 3200m and field events, followed by running events at 5:00 p.m. Fans can expect an action-packed day as these talented athletes go for gold and look to bring state titles back to Stephenville.
